To arrange a glider ride, simply dial (815) 286-7200 and we will schedule one of our FAA Commercial rated pilots to take you up in the blue skies over Hinckley Illinois (a beautiful suburb west of Chicago), where you can enjoy a real “birds-eye” view of the countryside and fly like a hawk or eagle. With our modern two seat, dual controlled gliders your pilot will offer you an opportunity to learn (and do) some of the flying basics, or you can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Red Tail Ride - $89 *
This ride includes a tow to 3,000 feet above the ground and a flight which lasts approximately 15-25 minutes depending on weather. It is an enjoyable introduction to soaring with plenty of time to float on air and discover just how simple and fun it is to fly.
Eagle Ride - $149 *
This ride includes a Mile High (yes - 5,280 foot) tow above the ground and a flight which lasts about 30-40 minutes depending on the weather. On a clear day you can see … well, almost forever.
Sunrise / Sunset Ride - $398 *
This ride includes a 10,000 foot tow above the ground and a flight which lasts about an hour depending on the weather. These rides are scheduled either very early or very late in the day when the air is silky smooth and the countryside is as quiet as a mouse. Truly a unique experience. Also great for the photography buff. We can only do two of these rides per Saturday or Sunday so they are limited. As with the other rides we include as much propaganda as you can handle about our club, and a brief but high quality video on soaring produced by the Soaring Society of America.
* Cost Includes a required one-day trial membership. A simple application form will need to be completed. Minors are welcome to fly with parental permission and signature.
* Maximum weight of 240 lbs per person

When and at what times are glider rides available?
Glider rides in Illinois are generally provided April through November and mainly on weekends. Special arrangements can be made for groups. It is best to make an appointment for your ride so that pilots and the sailplane can be reserved. However, we can sometimes accommodate walk-ups without reservations depending on our schedule.

- Eagle Rides are scheduled from 11:00am - 1:00pm & 4:00pm - 5:00pm.
- Sunrise / Sunset Rides are scheduled near Sunrise and Sunset ~ grin ~
- Note: All rides may be available later during July and August.
